Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Thích Thiện Duyên, Head of Quang Nam provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee, members of the provincial VBS Executive Committees, local authorities’ representatives and Buddhist followers in the locality.

Speaking at the ceremony, Venerable Thích Hạnh Hoa, Deputy Head of the provincial VBS Executive, Head of Hoi An city VBS Executive briefed about the history of Hoi Nguyen pagoda. The pagoda was established in 1746. In 2007, local authorities approved the restoration of Hoi Nguyen pagoda. But due to economic constraint, its construction has not been started until now.
