The annual meeting 2019 on medical charities of the Pure-land Buddhist Association in An Giang province took place on February 17 at Hung Phuoc temple located in the province’s Long Xuyen city.
The meeting drew the participation of Vice Chairman of the central executive committee of the Buddhist association Nguyễn Ngọc Ánh, representatives of the provincial religious committee, and 80 delegates from five chapters of the association and contributors in the locality.

The meeting focused on reviewing medical charities implemented in 2018 by medical clinics operated by the Buddhist association in An Giang and outlining plans of activities in the field of medical charities in 2019 in the locality.
As reported at the meeting, in the year 2018 the pure-land Buddhist association’s chapters in the province provided over 130,000 free health-checks for locals in the province, presented over 220,000 packets of traditional medicines, and offered nearly 75,000 non-medicine services, such as free acupuncture and massages, for cure of certain illnesses of locals. The total value of these medical charities was estimated at over six billion VND.
In addition, the meeting recalled the letter sent by Late President Ho Chi Minh to the health sector on occasion of the Physician Day (February 27) and moral and professional teachings of Great Physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac.
