Protestant Church in Da Lat celebrates 90th anniversary

Da Lat Protestant Church under the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (ECVN) (South) held on March 10 a solemn ceremony to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Protestantism in Da Lat city.

The event saw the participation Pastor Vice President of the ECVN Phan Vĩnh Cự Pastor Member of the ECVN’s executive committee in charge of pastoral affairs in Lam Dong province Kon Sa Ha Hack and over 1,000 Protestant dignitaries and believers in the province.

Distinguished guests at the event included Chairman the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Ngô Văn Đức.

According to yearbook of Da Lat Church, Protestantism first came to Da Lat city of Lam Dong province in 1929 and its worshipping church was built in 1942. Da Lat Protestant Church has currently 1,260 members (650 baptized) headed by Pastor Bùi Phụng.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Ngô Văn Đức stressed that the Party and State of Vietnam always respect and ensure citizens’ right to freedom of belief and religion. He also expressed hope that dignitaries and followers of the Protestant chapter would proactively join local movements for the socio-economic development in the province.
