Promoting religious roles in environmental protection

Fourteen religions will issue a message of religious commitment with the State and Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) in environmental protection and climate change adaptation, said Vice Chairman of the VFF Central Committee Lê Bá Trình.

He informed that the conference “Promoting role of religions in environmental protection and climate change adaptation” will be held on December 2-3 by the VFF Central Committee and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Hue city.

According to Vice Chairman Lê Bá Trình, in 2004, with the aim to implement the National Environmental Protection Strategy to 2020, with a vision to 2030, the VFF Central Committee launched a program for all people, including religious organizations, to participate in environmental protection.

He also stated that the religious teachings of all religions encouraged dignitaries and followers do good things, including the protection of the environment and ecology.

According to the Vice Chairman, after the conference “Promoting role of religions in environmental protection and climate change adaptation”, there will be an agreement between the VFF Central Committee, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and religious organizations with the aim to help dignitaries, deacons and followers raising awareness and changing behavior for environmental protection and climate change adaptation.
