Priest of Lai Chau parish under Hung Hoa diocese Peter Phan Kim Huấn led a charity group on July 3-4 for sending relief to victims affected by recent devastating floods in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau.
During the charity program, the group visited hard-hit families of dead and injured victims and households by the flood in the province’s districts of Tan Uyen and Sin Ho and presented three million VND to each family of dead victims and two VND million VND to each household having their houses destroyed or family members injured.
According to Priest Peter Phan Kim Huấn, the charity program worth VND 170 million was sponsored by the Vietnam Caritas.
As reported, the floods which occurred on June 23-26 in the northern mountainous provinces pulled down or swept away over two thousands houses. In addition, hundreds of hectares of rice and crops were destroyed, while thousands of cattle were killed and roads have collapsed.
