The ancient capital of Hue in Thua Thien – Hue province is home to many intangible cultural heritages which need to be preserved and promoted.
Over the past years, the preservation and promotion of values of intangible cultural heritages has primarily focused on the royal culture under the Nguyễn Dynasty, such as poetries, decorative motifs related to architectural monuments, festivals, the court music and Ngu classical drama, etc.
So far, the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre has successful reenacted 15 royal typifying dances, two classical dramas, 25 drama excerpts, and numbers of grand ceremonies such as Nam Giao Offering Ritual, Xa Tac Rite, Truyen Lo and Vinh Quy Bai To ceremonies, the Echoes from the Perfume River, the Royal palace night, the voyage to the South, the Royal Hue’s Essence, etc. These royal ceremonies and arts have become important parts of the annual Hue Festival, as well as part of a famous tour to heritages in the city.
The conservation centre has organized numbers of domestic and international seminars and conferences for promoting research and cooperation in preserving tangible and intangible heritages with institutes, universities, government agencies in the country and abroad.
The centre has also implemented cooperation programs with partners in countries of Japan, Poland, Canada, France, England, USA, Germany, Thailand, Belgium, Korea, Netherland for restoring and preserving several ancient works, including Can Chanh palace, wall paintings in An Dinh palace’s Khai Tuong Lau, the Imperial Tomb of Tu Duc, Can Chanh palace’s Ta Vu, and Phung Tien palace’s gate and folding screen, etc.
