On February 22, Quang Binh provincial authorities held an exchange meeting with the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Standing Committee on preparation of the 3rd provincial-level Buddhist Congress for the 2017-2022 tenure.
Attending the meeting included Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Tánh Nhiếp and Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Tô Ngọc Hồng.
According to Most Venerable Thích Tánh Nhiếp, toward the 3rd provincial-level Buddhist Congress, the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee has gradually consolidated its organizational structure, such as the establishment of two Buddhist Chapters in districts of Bo Trach and Quang Ninh and the nomination of 20 members to the VBS’s executive boards in the two districts.
For the personnel issue, the provincial Buddhist Chapter’s Executive Committee planned to increase the number of monks and nuns in the new-term executive committee from the locality and provinces across the country who have been transferred to the province in order to meet religious practices by local Buddhists.
