Pope Francis appoints new Bishop of Hai Phong diocese

Pope Francis appointed Bishop of Ban Me Thuot diocese Vincent Nguyễn Văn Bản as the new Bishop of Hai Phong diocese cum the Apostolic Administrator of Ban Me Thuot diocese on March 19.  

Before that Hai Phong diocese had not has any new prelate since Bishop Joseph Vũ Văn Thien was appointed as Archbishop of Hanoi Archdiocese in 2018.

Bishop Vincent Nguyễn Văn Bản was born on November 25, 1956, at  Phu Yen province’s Tuy Hoa district and was ordained a priest in 1993. He was appointed as Bishop of Ban Me Thuot diocese in 2009.

Hai Phong diocese covers Hai Phong city, provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, and a part of Hung Yen province, with 134,000 parishioners, 115 priests, 98 parishes and 350 churches.
