On December 23, permanent Politburo member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretary Lê Hồng Anh led a delegation to visit Hanoi Archdiocese on occasion of Christmas 2015.
The delegation included representatives of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and the Party Central Office.
Welcoming the delegation included Cardinal Archbishop of Hanoi Archdiocese Nguyễn Văn Nhơn, and dignitaries and followers of the archdiocese.
At the visting reception, Mr. Lê Hồng Anh shared with the hosts about the country’s socio-economic achievements, and said religious followers in general, and Catholics in particular, made important contributions to these socio-economic results. He also spoke highly of Hanoi Catholics’ efforts in reducing poverty, building new-style rural areas and ensuring social security and public order.
In the same day, the delegation visited the Evangelical Churches of Vietnam (ECVN) (North).
In meeting with the Church’s leaders, Mr. Lê Hồng Anh praised the Protestant dignitaries and followers for their contributions to the socio-economic development of the country. He also encouraged Protestants to actively participate in movements for the national construction and defense, and “rich people, strong country, equitable, democratic and civilized”.
