Permanent Prime Minister Phạm Bình Minh paid on May 11 a visit to Quan Su pagoda and met with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Executive Council on occasion of the Buddha’s 2566th birthday.

The government official accompanied by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng and Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Hoài Bắc was welcomed by Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Standing Vice President of the VBS Executive Council, Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang, Vice President of the VBS Executive Council, and Most Venerable Thích Thanh Điện, Head of the VBS’s Central Office in Hanoi.
During the visit, while extending greetings to Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and lay followers, Permanent Prime Minister Phạm Bình Minh affirmed that the Buddha's birthday festival is not only an important event for monks, nuns, lay Buddhists and other people who love and devote to Buddhism in Vietnam, but also a world religious festival recognized by the United Nations in order to honor fine values and contributions of Buddhism to the spiritual life of people as well as peace and happiness of mandkind.

The government official also sent wishes of success to the VBS’s 9th national congress scheduled in November 2022, and expressed hope that the VBS would continue promoting its fine tradition in accompanying with the country in the era of integration and development.

On the same day, delegations of the Home Affairs Ministry and the Government Religious Committee visited and extended congratulations to the VBS on occasion of the 2566th Buddha’s Birthday.
