Over 1,000 people registered for organ donation 2019 in Giac Ngo Pagoda

More than 1,000 people have voluntarily registered to donate their tissues, organs and bodies after death for life-saving and scientific purposes at a ceremony taking place in Giac Ngo Pagoda in HCM City on October 19.

According to Ven. Thích Nhật Từ, Head of Giac Ngo Pagoda, this was the sixth ceremony organized the pagoda and Today Buddhist Foundation for people to register of tissue, organ and body donation to save lives and aid scientific research, and a total of 3,733 people have registered at the pagoda held annually since 2014.

On the occasion, the Vietnam Book of Records presented the foundation and the pagoda with the certificate “First Buddhist organization in Vietnam organizes advocacy program for donation of tissues, organs and bodies after death for life saving and scientific purposes” from 2014 to 2019.
