A delegation from the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (ECVN) (North) led by Pastor President Nguyễn Hữu Mạc visited the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee on September 19.

Welcoming the delegation was Head of the Board of Religious Affairs under the VFF Central Committee Nguyễn Văn Thanh.

During the visiting reception, Pastor Nguyễn Hữu Mạc stated that as a member of VFF Central Committee with about 160,000 followers, the ECVN would continue actively responding to the movements launched by the VFF Central Committee, especially programs for social-charitable activities and improving the cultural life in the residential areas.

According to the Pastor President, the Church has engaged in many social welfare programs for the past years, including provision of clean water for people in northern provinces, organization of mobile health checks for the poor, blood donation, coordinating activities for environmental protection and climate change adaptation, and effective treatment for heroin addiction by spiritual means.

During the reception, while praising the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North) for its practical contributions, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Thanh said that the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation in Vietnam, expected to be held on October, 2017, is a legitimate need of Protestants in the country.
