Ninh Thuan province: Cham people prepare Kate festival 2015 with bustle and excitement

The Council of Brahmin dignitaries of Cham people in Ninh Thuan province will organize Kate festival 2015 in October 12 - 14 at Cham Po Klong Garai temples complex.

Kate festival is annually held in Autumn where people gather to commemorate spirits and ancestors. The festival usually lasts for three days with worshipping rituals at temples and in the family, and activities for entertainment and celebration.

It’s expected that, this year, in the opening ceremony of Kate Festival 2015, the religious dignitaries of Brahmin religion will conduct rituals and prayers for peace and prosperity at the main temple.

In addition to ceremonies and rituals at ancient temples, there will be cultural activities such as costume wearing procession, decoration and display of offerings to the Goddess… Festival participants can also enjoy contests of weaving and making pottery, pottery exhibition by families, Cham folk art performances, folk games and music of Paranung drum, Saranai trumpet…

With purpose of preserving cultural identities of ethnic people and thorough preparation, it’s well expected that, Kate festival 2015 in Ninh Thuan province would have many enriching attractive rituals and activities.
