Nghe An province starts work on Yen Thanh Truc Lam Zen Monastery

The construction of Tru Lam Yen Thanh Zen Monastery was kicked off at a ceremony held on April 4.

Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the locality.

Distinguished guests at the event were General Phạm Văn Trà, former Defence Minister, Secretary of Party Committee Hồ Đức Phớc, Chairman of the province People’s Committee Nguyễn Xuân Đường and local authorities’ representatives.

Yen Thanh Truc Lam Zen Monastery is one of facilities of the Truc Lam Zen School founded by King Trần Nhân Tông (1258-1308) and recently revived by Most Venerable Thích Thanh Từ.

In addition to the monastery, a giant Buddha statue measuring 41 meters in height will also be erected on top of Ru Gam mountain.

 On this occasion, Gam pagoda and the Management Board of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen presented 146 gift boxes to poor families in the locality.
