On April 3, the Vietnam Government issued Decree No. 34/2017/NĐ-CP on functions, tasks, competence and organizational structure of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Home Affairs is a government ministry in Vietnam responsible for: organizational structure of state administration; local government organizations, management of administrative boundaries; officials, public servants and state employees; Non-governmental organizations; emulation and reward; religions; state archives, youth and state administration of public services.
Under the new Decree, the Ministry of Home Affairs has 22 subordinate divisions, decreased from 24 divisions as specified in the previous decree, including:

2. Department of Local Government
3. Department of Civil Servants - Public Employees
4. Department of Training for Civil Servants
5. Department of Remunerations
6. Department of Non-governmental organizations
7. Department of Administrative reforms
8. Department of International cooperation
9. Department of Legislation
10. Department of Planning and finance
11. Department of General Affairs
12. Department of Youth Affairs
13. Department of Organization and Personnel
14. The Ministry Inspectorate
15. The Ministry Office
16. Bureau of State Records Management and Archives
17. Central Committee for Emulation and Reward
18. Government Committee for Religious Affairs
19. National Academy of Public Administration
20. Institute for State Organizational Sciences
21. State Organization Magazine
22. Information Centre
This Decree replaces the Government's Decree No 58/2014/NĐ-CP dated June 16, 2014 on functions, tasks, competence and organizational structure of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
