Huong Mai Catholic parish in Phong Chuong commune of Thua Thien Hue province’s Phong Dien district held on April 18 a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of its new church.
The event was presided by Archbishop of Hue Archdiocese cum President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh, and attended priests of the Archdiocese, representatives from local authorities and Huong Mai parishioners.
During the event, Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh performed ground-breaking rituals and prayed for construction of the new church.
Luong Mai Catholic parish was established in 1960 and its original church was built in 1962 and later destroyed by bomb in 1968.
