New Catholic church in Ca Mau inaugurated

Rau Dua parish under Can Tho diocese in Ca Mau province’s Cai Nuoc district inaugurated its new church at a ceremony held on July 13.   

The ceremony saw the participation of Cardinal Jean-Baptiste Phạm Minh Mẫn, Bishop of Can Tho diocese Stephan Tri Bảo Thiên, priests from Catholic parishes under the diocese, representatives from the local authorities and about 1500 Catholics in the localities.

Rau Dua parish was established as a separation from Cai Ran parish in 2017, and it currently has 223 Catholics. The original church of the parish was built in 1927 with temporary materials. The church reconstruction was started in July, 2018.

During the event, Bishop Stephan Tri Bửu Thiên took the chance to thank local authorities for their support and favorable conditions extended to religious practices in the locality over the past years.
