On October 23, 2013, Rev. Paul Trần Chí Thanh, head of the Caritas of the My Tho chapter (the Caritas of the My Tho Diocese) presented 15 wheelchairs to old and disabled people (irrespective of religion) with special difficulties in Go Cong Dong and Tan Phu Dong districts and My Tho city, the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang.
These wheelchairs were distributed by Caritas Vietnam for Caritas My Tho through the American Wheelchair Mission (AWM).
Caritas My Tho donated the wheelchairs to old and disabled people in the parishes throughout the province with the aim to join efforts by the society and their families to encourage and support the old to live happily with their descendants, and to provide the disabled with means of transport, to help them integrate into the community and have conditions to overcome difficulties in their lives.
After this donation, Caritas My Tho will continue to give 15 other wheelchairs to those in need in the province’s western districts such as Cai Be, Cai Lay and Chau Thanh./.
