A New Year meeting between provincial authorities of Tien Giang, Long An, Dong Thap and Catholic dignitaries of My Tho Diocese was held on February 15 at My Tho Cathedral located in My Tho city.
The event saw the participation of Bishop of My Tho diocese Peter Nguyễn Văn Khảm, Priest Vicar General Paul Trần Kỳ Minh, Chairman of the the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics in Tien Giang province Joseph Phạm Thanh Minh, priests representing the CSVC in provinces of Long An, Dong Thap.
Local officials at the event included representatives from authorities of the three provinces covering the diocese’s area including Tien Giang, Long An, Dong Thap and My Tho city’s People’s Committee.
During the meeting, Bishop of My Tho diocese Peter Nguyễn Văn Khảm expressed his thanks to the three provincial governments for creating favorable conditions extended to the Catholic practices in the diocese over the past years. The Bishop also stated that Catholic dignitaries would continue encouraging followers to proactively join local movements, contributing to the socio-economic development in localities.
While extending New Year greetings to the Bishop, priests and Catholic followers in the diocese, Chairman of Tien Giang provincial Commission for Mass Mobilization Trần Long Thôn spoke highly of important contributions to social development in the locality by Catholic followers.
