My Tho diocese: A ceremony held for the debut of its new bishop

On August 30th 2014, at Cathedral church (No. 32 Hung Vuong street ward 7, My Tho city, Tien Giang province), My Tho diocese held a solemn ceremony for the debut of its new bishop – Bishop Peter Nguyễn Văn Khảm.

Archbishop Paul Bùi Văn Đọc of Ho Chi Minh City archdiocese President of the Vietnam Catholic Bishops’ Conference, presided over the ceremony. Attending the ceremony were also Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli – non-resident special envoy of the Vatican to Vietnam, bishops, priests inside and outside the diocese and about 2.500 Catholic followers.

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs, the Tien Giang province’s Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and local authorities sent congratulatory flowers to the ceremony.

The ceremony took place in solemn and joyful atmosphere and favorable conditions for all participants./.
