My Tho Caritas held on September 27 a ceremony at the pastoral centre of My Tho diocese, to hand over “My Tho Caritas” scholarships to pupils and students in the diocese on occasion of the new school year 2020-2021,.
The event saw the presence of Priest Director of My Tho Caritas John Baptist Nguyễn Tấn Sang and 599 pupils and students with difficult circumstances in the diocese.
During the event, the scholarships, worth 800 million VND in total, were granted to 599 pupils and students with special difficulties from 40 parishes in the diocese (covering provinces of Long An, Dong Thap and Tien Giang). In addition, the diocese also presented moon cakes to children for celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival.
According to Priest John Baptist Nguyễn Tấn Sang, “My Tho Caritas” scholarship was established in 2014 by Bishop of My Tho diocese Peter Nguyễn Văn Khảm. The scholarship aims to encourage pupils and students to overcome difficulties and study well at schools, and later become useful people in the family and the country.
