The precise number of official delegates is 1.005, in which 965 delegates from provincial Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS); 40 delegates from 13 the Central Committees and 4 Institutes of the VBS
These allocated numbers were made according to the announcement No. 050/TB-HĐTS signed by Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, Standing Vice President of the Executive Council cum General Secretary of the VBS on February 22, 2014
Accordingly, Hanoi has the largest number of delegates (127 delegates), Ninh Binh province and Ho Chi Minh city rank second in number of delegates (103 delegates)
The announcement also mentioned that the lists of monks, nuns and Buddhists in Southern region (from Quang Tri province to Ca Mau province) will register at the Office II of the VBS Central Committee of Quang Duc Buddhist monastery (District 3, Ho Chi Minh city), email: vitinhvp2@yahoo.com; those deletgates in Northern region will register at Office I of the VBS Central Committee – Quan Su pagoda, email: vp1giaohoi@gmail.com. Registration deadline dated on March 10, 2014
The UN Day of Vesak 2014 is hosted by the VBS at Hoa Lu ancient citadel, Trang An - Bai Dinh pagoda Buddhist Centre from May 7 – 11, 2014
