Ministry of Justice appraises draft law on belief, religion

On June 25, Deputy Minister of Justice Đinh Trung Tụng chaired a meeting to appraise the draft law on belief and religion.

Attending the meeting were Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Thanh Hà, members of the appraisal council, drafting board and editorial group of the draft law.

During the meeting, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà presented practical needs, purposes, viewpoints and contents of the draft law as well as some remaining issues to be submitted to the Government for solutions. The draft law contains 70 articles arranged in 12 chapters, 11 entries. Many provisions of the draft law were based on the Ordinance on Belief and Religion. The draft law has also some additional stipulations for overcoming shortcoming and problems of the Ordinance, as well as complying with the Constitution 2013

At the meeting, participating delegates agreed on the necessity for issuance of law on belief and religion in current situation and reviewed contents of the draft law in order to ensure the constitutionality, legality, integrity and feasibility of the law.
