The Lo Lo ethnic-cultural festival 2019 in Ha Giang province’s Dong Van district took place on August 25 in Lung Cu commune.
The festival aimed at preserving and promoting traditional values of Lo Lo ethnic minority attracted large numbers of locals and visitors.
Typical Lo Lo individuals received merits by local authorities
The cultural festival featured series of traditional activities including the ancestor worship annually held from 24-25 of the 7th lunar month and prayers for peace and good weather, and folk games such as tug of war, etc.
The festival also offered visitors a chance to discover traditional customs and costumes of Lo Lo ethnic group.
Dong Van district currently has 19 ethnic groups, including the black Lo Lo ethnic group of about 100 households residing in Lung Cu commune’s Lo Lo Chai village.
The black Lo Lo people are among the few ethnic groups in Vietnam who still use bronze drums in belief practices and rituals.
