Lao Cai province: Hung Hoa Caritas sends charities to poor pupils

From Sept 1 to 20, with the help of the Francis Caritas overseas, Hung Hoa Caritas presented 30 bicycles to H’mông pupils who are living at a dormitory in Sapa church in Lao Cai province and provided financial support for first-term tuition to 204 disadvantaged pupils in 13 parishes under Hung Hoa diocese.

Sapa parish under Hung Hoa diocese is located in Sapa town of Lao Cai province and administered by priest Pierre Phạm Thanh Bình. This is one of the most remote parishes of Hung Hoa diocese.

In 2006, the parish priest built a tole-roof dormitory inside the church for grade-three pupils. Since then, the priest has received 62 H’mông pupils in the dormitory.

The program presenting bicycles and financial support to poor pupils worth over 200 million VND was sponsored by Francis Caritas with the aim to promote children’s education in remote areas.
