Kien Giang province: meeting monks and prestigious people in the ethnic Khmer community

On July 30, the Southwest Steering Committee in collaboration with Kien Giang province held a meeting with monks and prestigious people in the ethnic Khmer community in Chau Thanh district (Kien Giang province)

Attending the meeting were Mr. Sơn Phước Hoan, Vice Chairman of Ethnic Minority Committee; representatives from the Southwest Steering Committee and Kien Giang province; venerable, monks and prestigious people in the ethnic Khmer community in the locality.

At the meeting, Mr. Sơn Phước Hoan affirmed the role and responsibilities of ethnic minorities, religious dignitaries, deacons, followers in the cause of construction and defense of the country, the maintenance of political security, social safety and order in the locality. He also briefed information on current situation in the country and the world, the East Sea situation, sovereign borders and islands, great nation unity bloc issues, religious policies and policies for the ethnic minorities. He urged ethnic minorities to have faith in the leadership, guidelines of the Party and laws of the State in the construction and defense of the country.

Mr, Sơn Phúc Hoan urged leaders of Kien Giang provinces to focus working on policies for ethnic minorities, and socio-economic development in ethnic minorities’ localities, especially agricultural sector, vocational training, employment…

At the meeting, monks and prestigious people in the ethnic Khmer community raised opinions and valuable comments on education, health, new rural development, preservation of Khmer culture…
