Attending the congress were Mrs. Đặng Tuyết Em, Vice-Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Trương Thắng Trận, Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front, representatives from the local authorities, priest Phan Đình Sơn, Vice-President of the provincial Committee for Solidarity of Catholics, priest Huỳnh Phước Lâm, a representative of Long Xuyen diocese and over 200 priests, religious and Catholics in Kien Giang province.

During the past term, Catholic followers in Kien Giang province upheld the spirit of patriotism and solidarity, actively participated in movements and programs for social – economic development and maintainance of security and order in localities.

The Congress elected 90 members of the new provincial Committee for Solidarity of Catholics (40 priests, 4 religious and 46 typical Catholics) and nominated its 7-members Standing Board. Priest Trần Hữu Thịnh was reelected as Chairman of the Committee in 2014 – 2019 term.

 At the congress, the provincial People’s Committee presented a certificate of merit to 4 organizations and 5 individuals for their outstanding contributions to activities of the provincial Committee for Solidarity of Catholics./.
