A Buddha bathing ceremony to celebrate Chol Chnam Thmay festival - the traditional new year of the Khmer people took place on April 16 at Candaransi pagoda located in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 3.

The event chaired by Most Venerable Danh Lung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee in Ho Chi Minh City cum Abbot of Candaransi pagoda drew the participation of a large number of Khmer people living and working in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces.
The event included an offering incense to the Buddha, bathing the Buddha arches ritual, praying for a happy new year, asking forgiveness for the mistakes of the old year, and performing an elderly-monk bathing ritual for honoring longevity and offering blessings to monks of old age.

Earlier, a gathering on the occasion of the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay festival took place at Candaransi pagoda on April 14 with over 200 Khmer ethnic people living in District 3, and 50 Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City.
