Khmer Kathina festival to be celebrated in Hanoi

The Kathina festival will be held on November 22 at the Khmer pagoda located in the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Hanoi.

The event will be organized by the management board of the Vietnam National Village in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Council and monks, nuns at the Khmer pagoda.

The Kathina festival is one of the most important traditions of Theravada Buddhism. This festival has been celebrated annually since the Buddha was alive.

The event is expected to draw thousands of participants, including Buddhists monks, nuns and followers of Mahayana and Theravada Branches across the country, as well as Ambassadors of ASEAN countries in Hanoi and overseas students of Cambodia and Lao…
