Khmer Buddhist Temple inaugurated in Soc Trang

Pothi Satharam Pagoda located in the city of Soc Trang province formally inaugurated its new main worshipping building at a ceremony held on March 3.

The ceremony jointly organized by the Association of patriotic monks in the province and Pothi Satharam Pagoda management board was attended by Most Venerable Chairman of the Association of patriotic monks in the province Dương Nhơn, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Thạch Thal, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ngô Hùng, representatives of concerning provincial departments, and large numbers of Khmer Buddhist clergies and followers.

As reported, the reconstruction of the pagoda, originally known as Po temple, was started in 2011. Its new main worshipping building was built with 26m long, 16m wide and 41m high and completed at the construction cost of over VND 7.4 billion. The pagoda boldly featured the architecture of the Khmer Theravada Buddhist culture.
