A Kathina robes offering ceremony featuring the Khmer Theravada Buddhism took place on November 26 in Phuoc Son Monastery located in Dong Nai province.
Present at the event included Most Venerable Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council cum Vice Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Ho Chi Minh city Thích Thiện Tâm, Most Venerable Member of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Hộ Chánh, Most Venerable Head of Phap Quang pagoda in Ho Chi Minh city’s Binh Thanh district Thích Minh Giác, Most Venerable Abbot of Ky Quang 1 pagoda in Dong Nai Thích Thiện Pháp, Most Venerable Member of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Abbot of Phuoc Son Monastery Thích Bửu Chánh, Vice Chairman of the Central VBS’s Economic and Financial Affairs Committee Lê Thị Giàu, and over 1,000 monks and nuns and lay Buddhists from Dong Nai and neighboring provinces.

Distinguished guests at the event included Consul-General of Thailand Apirat Sugondhabhirom, Consul-General of Cambodia Sok Dareth, and a representative of Malaysia consulate.

During the ceremony, Buddhist followers paraded three times around the monastery with a procession of cloth and other offerings, and Buddhist monks performed a worshipping rite at the Three-Jewel worshiping temple of the monastery.
Although affected by Covid-19 pandemic, the ceremony this year also drew the participation of Buddhists from Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia.
