An interdisciplinary delegation paid a working visit to Ho Chi Minh City on Nov. 17-19 with the aim to check activities of sponsoring centers in the locality.
The delegation consists of representatives from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the Vietnam Catholic Church.
During the visit, the delegation had a working session with the City Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and visited several local sponsoring centers.
At working meetings, the delegation asked local competent agencies to closely work together in guiding sponsoring centers in the City to operate in accordance with the laws and create favorable conditions for these centers to conduct social and humanitarian activities effectively, contributing to alleviate sufferings of people confronting special difficulties.
According to a local report, currently there are 61 active non-public sponsoring establishments in the locality and amongst them 28 establishments have not been licensed… These sponsoring centers are taking care of over 2,700 people who are the elderly, orphan children, poor patients…
