Hung Hoa Catholic diocese held on December 12 a solemnly ceremony for opening the Jubilee year on its 125th founding anniversary (1895 – 2020) and inaugurating the diocese’s Bishop House.
The event saw the presence of Bishop Pierre Nguyễn Văn Viên, the diocese’s Apostolic Administrator; Former Bishop Jean Marie Vũ Tất and Former Bishop Antoine Vũ Huy Chương of the diocese; Bishop Alphonse Nguyễn Hữu Long of Vinh diocese, and large numbers of priests, clergies and lay Catholics in the diocese.
During the ceremony, Bishop Pierre Nguyễn Văn Viên, the diocese’s Apostolic Administrator delivered the speech for formally opening the diocese’s Jubilee year, which started from December 8, 2020 and will end on December 8, 2021.
At the event, Bishop Pierre Nguyễn Văn Viên, Bishop Jean Marie Vũ Tất, Bishop Antoine Vũ Huy Chương, and Bishop Alphonse Nguyễn Hữu Long together performed the ribbon-cutting for inaugurating the Bishop House.

Hung Hoa diocese covers an area of 58,000 km2, spreading over Northwest provinces of Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, and parts of Hoa Binh, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang provinces and Hanoi.
The diocese currently has 162 priests and 260,000 parishioners residing in 117 Catholic parishes and 700 communities.
