Minister Hằng expressed her opinion in response to information released on March 20 following that the US State Department announcing the 2022 Annual Human Rights Report,
She made the statement during the ministry’s routine press briefing in Hanoi on March 23 in response to the US Department of State’s March 20 announcement of the annual Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2022, which stated that a number of Asian countries, including Vietnam, have committed systematic and serious human rights violations.
However, the nation always views people as the centre and driving force behind the renewal process and the cause of national development. The country will keep striving to achieve its goal of improving the lives and enjoyment of ordinary people, leaving no one behind in the process.
Human rights and fundamental freedoms have already been enshrined in the Constitution of Vietnam, which is protected and promoted by specific legal documents and carried out in practice.
“Vietnam regrets that the US State Department's 2022 Annual Human Rights Report made some unbiased statements based on inaccurate information about the actual situation in Vietnam. The nation is always ready to have frank and open discussions in a constructive spirit with the United States on issues of differences in order to enhance understanding and contribute to the development of the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the US," Hằng emphazised.
