On February 16 - the ninth day of the first lunar month, the festival to commemorate Princess Huyền Trân opened at Huyền Trân Cultural Centre in An Tay ward, Hue city.
The annual festival aimed to pay respects and gratitude to ancestors who had made meritorious service to the country.
Apart from the incense offering and traditional rituals at Princess Huyền Trân and King Trần Nhân Tông Temples, the event also has many spiritual and social activities, such as prayers for peace, lantern festival, exhibition displaying local traditional handicraft products, and folk games, etc.
The 28-hectare Huyền Trân Cultural Centre is located at the foot of Ngu Phong mountain in An Tay ward, about 7km from Hue city in the west and surrounded by pine forests.
Inside the Princess Huyền Trân temple at Huyền Trân Cultural Centre, a 2.37m high statue of Princess Huyền Trân seated on a throne was cast in pure copper by famous artists on bronze casting in Hue city.
Huyền Trân Cultural Centre is also a cultural, historical and religious complex. At the top of the mountain, which is 108 meters above the sea level, is the Hoa Binh (Peace) bell-tower. On the bronze bell, which is 1.6 tons in weigh and 2.16 meters in height, was engraved 8 words “World - Peace - Humankind – Happiness” and the images of four pagodas: Giac Lam (Ho Chi Minh City), Thien Mu (Thua Thien Hue province), Dien Huu (Ha Noi city) and Truc Lam Yen Tu (Quang Ninh province). From the top of Ngu Phong Mountain, tourists can catch a panoramic view of the city which is well-known for a lot of ancient relics.
