Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyễn Trọng Thừa chaired on March 30 a meeting with several central government agencies on the state management on practices of belief.
Attending the meeting included representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA), the Central Party Commission for Mass Mobilization and the Ministry of Public Security.
The rich and diversity system of beliefs in Vietnam has set forth requirements regarding the provisions of law as well as the coordination mechanism among relevant ministries and agencies in the State management on belief practices.
In accordance with the Article 22 of the Decree No.162 on detailing a number of articles and providing measures for the implementation of the belief and religious law, the GCRA under the MOHA is responsible for the state management on religious and belief activities and worshiping places, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is responsible for the state management on belief festivals and belief places ranked as historical-cultural relics and landscapes.
With the aim to avoid the overlap or omission in the state management on belief activities, the meeting focused on specifying tasks of the state management on beliefs for the two state bodies and their coordination related to the state management on practices of beliefs.
GCRA Vice Chairman Dương Ngọc Tấn speaks at the meeting
According to Deputy Minister Nguyễn Trọng Thừa, results of the meeting will be submitted to the Prime Minister for amendments and supplements of decrees defining the functions, tasks, jurisdiction and organizational structure of the two ministries in implementing tasks of the state management on belief activities.
