Ho Chi Minh city: VBS reviews six-month religious affairs 2015

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council reviewed its performance in the first six months of 2015 at a meeting held on July 23 at its Southern Office in Quang Duc monastery, Ho Chi Minh city.

State officials at the conference included Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Phạm Dũng, Vice Chairman of the GCRA Trần Tấn Hùng and representatives from local authorities.

The meeting highlighted important results of Buddhist affairs in the first six months of 2015, including the establishment of Lai Chau provincial VBS Executive Committee, organization of the national conference on Buddhist clergy 2015 and a Buddhist preaching conference in Dien Bien province, fund raisings for earthquake victims in Nepal, attending the UN Vesak in Thailand…

Speaking at the event, Mr. Phạm Dũng acknowledged practical contributions of the VBS over the years and expressed hopes that the Discernment Council and the Standing Committee of the VBS Executive Council would guide Buddhists inside and outside the country to practice religious activities under the motto “Dharma- Nation- Socialism”, contributing to the development of the VBS and building Vietnam into a country with “wealthy people, strong country, a just, democratic and advances society”.
