Ho Chi Minh city: Religious dignitaries attend meeting on building civilized lifestyles

Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam attended a meeting with Vietnam faith leaders on “Religion and propagation, mobilization to promote cultural and civilized lifestyles” Ho Chi Minh City on April 27.

The event was organized by the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) at T78 Guesthouse in the City’s District 3.   

Attending the meeting included Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Phạm Dũng, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyễn Thanh Long, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Phạm Mạnh Hùng, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism Huỳnh Vĩnh Ái, and over 50 dignitaries representing religious organizations in Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, GCRA Chairman Phạm Dũng highlighted efforts of religious organizations in promoting fine religious values in order to make  practical contributions to the country and society.

During the meeting. Most Venerable Thích Quảng Tùng, Vice President of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Council cum Chairman of the Central Committee for Social Charities; Bishop Vũ Đình Hiệu of Bui Chu Diocese, Director of Vietnam Caritas, and dignitaries of other religious organizations actively exchanged and shared common willingness and characteristics of their respective religion for promoting a civilized society of Vietnam.

Leaders from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Training, and Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism acknowledged active social contributions by religious organizations in the past years and expressed their hope that religious institutions would further collaborate and promote social programs for creating civilized lifestyles in the country.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam affirmed that religious organizations have played considerable roles in the country’s development and the nation’s fine cultural traditions. He also requested relevant ministries and local authorities to proactively coordinate with religious bodies in promoting the nation’s fine traditional values for creating advanced lifestyles in the country.
