Ho Chi Minh city: Opening of 800th Jubilee of Dominican Order

In solidarity with members of the Order of Preachers throughout the world, the Dominican family Vietnam gathered at Ba Chuong Dominican parish church to celebrate its 800th Jubilee Order of Preachers and Feast of All Dominican Saints on Nov. 7 in Ho Chi Minh city.

This is a great event for Catholic Church in general and the Order of Preachers in particular.  The event kicked off around the world from Santa Sabina, Rome (headquarters of Order) to religious provinces, localities and sub-regions, etc in order to express the communion with the Order in this important event.

Attending the celebrating ceremony included Bishop of Vinh diocese Nguyễn Thái Hợp, Dominican brothers and sisters.

Auxiliary Bishop of the Provincial Order Vincent Phạm Xuân Hưng, in charge of Vietnam Dominican Family, informed the history and the forthcoming activities during the Jubilee Year of the Order from November 7th, 2015 to January 21st   2017. 

Based on the letter for the Year of Consecrated Life by Pope Francis (November 21, 2014), Priest Director in charge of education of the Provincial Order Phan Tấn Thành delivered a speech in order to help the congregation better understanding “800th Jubilee Order of Preachers: past – present - future”.
