Ho Chi Minh city: Large number of religious followers attend 14th General Election

On May 22, together with voters nationwide, a large number of religious followers came to the polling stations in Ho Chi Minh City to fulfill their civic rights and duties.

The polling station No. 41 was started at 6:30am on 39 Trần Quốc Thảo Street in HCM City’s District 3, and Archbishop President of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam Paul Bùi Văn Đọc came to this polling station at 7:30 am to exercise his citizen rights.

The Archbishop Paul Bùi Văn Đọc said "I and other parishioners are also citizens of the country, so we have to fulfill this civic duty for the country and to well exercise it. I expect the country to choose talented and virtuous deputies so as to promote peace and development".

Most Venerable Chairman of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn and Buddhist monks of Minh Dao Pagoda came to polling stattion No. 60 on Trần Quốc Thảo Street, Ward 9, District 3 at 6am to cast their ballots.

Most Venerable Chairman Thích Thiện Nhơn casts his vote.

According to Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, the VBS had encouraged all monks and nuns to select the appropriate people to lead the country. “With this election, we hope to have a new generation of leaders who care for the people and the country”, he said.
