According to Deputy Director of Ha Noi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, after reviewing, Hanoi had 500 strange artifacts still existing in monuments and displaced 146 strange artifacts, mainly foreign-style stone lions.
Talking to the reporter on Jan 13, Truong Minh Tien, Deputy Director of Ha Noi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that authorities had faced various obstacles. Both people and officials have not distinguished the foreign lions from Vietnamese ones.
Ha Noi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the districts reviewed more than 500 artifacts in monuments, most of which are stone lions. Currently, 146 stone lions have been taken down from pagodas and relic areas, especially Long Bien district has displaced 30 stone lions in 11 monuments said Mr. Tiến.
Although face with many difficulties, Deputy Director Trương Minh Tiến stated that in the coming time Hanoi would take down all strange artifacts from relics.
