Deputy Secretary of Hanoi city Party Committee Ngô Thị Thanh Hằng led a delegation to visit Hanoi city Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) on May 11, on occasion of the Buddha Birthday Festival 2016 – B.E. 2560.
Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Council cum Chairman of Hanoi city VBS Executive Committee Thích Bảo Nghiêm and Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhã welcomed the delegation.
Speaking at the welcoming reception, Deputy Secretary Ngô Thị Thanh Hằng extended best wishes to Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers in the city on occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday Festival 2016. She also hailed practical contributions made by the city VBS, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in social and charitable activities over the past years.
The Deputy Secretary also took the chance to urge Buddhist dignitaries to encourage followers to proactively join in the election of members of the National Assembly and People’s Councils for the period 2016-2021to be held on May 22, 2016.
