Ground breaking ceremony for construction of new Catholic church in Tien Giang

The ground-breaking ceremony for construction of new Ba Ton Catholic church under My Tho diocese located in Tien Giang province’s Cai Lay district was held on December 8.

Attending the event included Bishop of My Tho diocese Peter Nguyễn Văn Khảm, Priest of Ba Ton parish John Baptist Nguyễn Nhựt Cương, 35 priest from the diocese and large numbers of Catholic clergymen, clergywomen and followers.

Chairwoman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Thị Mai and local authorities’ representatives also attended the event.

According to head of the pastoral council of the church Nguyễn Thanh Hùng, the provincial authorities has approved for Ba Ton parish to rebuild its church on a total area of 416 m2. The new church is expected to be completed in three years.
