Trần Hưng Đạo was the military commander of Dai Viet military forces during the Trần Dynasty and commanded the Dai Viet armies to repel three major Mongol invasions in the 13th century.
Trần Hưng Đạo statue in An Phu mountain located in Hai Duong province’s Kinh Mon District, near the temple worshipping Trần Liễu – father of Trần Hưng Đạo, was built in 1993. The statue with 9.1 meters high on a platform of 3 meters high was made of 65 stone blocks taking from Nhoi mountain in Thanh Hoa province and arranged in 11 layers. The statue was inaugurated on August 20, 1998.
Beside the Kiep Bac historical relic (in Hai Duong) and Tran temple (in Nam Dinh province’s Tuc Mac village) worshipping Trần Hưng Đạo, the Great General Hưng Đạo statue deeply bears historical and spiritual values.
