The grave and the worshipping temple of Mr. Đỗ Công Tường and his wife located in Le Loi Street of Cao Lanh city, Dong Thap province have formally received the status of a national historical & cultural relic at a ceremony held on July 10.
The event organized by the district authorities of Cao Lanh coincided with the 199th death anniversary of Mr. Đỗ Công Tường and his wife annually held on from the 8th day to the 10th day of the 6th lunar month.
After moving to My Tra village, now My Tra commune, with his wife, Mr. Đỗ Công Tường, also intimately called as Mr. Lãnh, became well known and loved for his virtue of frankness and understanding of ancient teachings. His prestige earned him the title “Câu Đương” that served as the mediator for local disputes. He was also remembered for successes in the business of mandarin cultivation that led to the establishment of a trading place of mandarin fruits in the locality that becoming the present open market of Câu Lãnh. In recognition of his prestige and contribution, the Nguyen feudal dynasty directed My Tra Commune to worship Đỗ Công Tường as a deity.

Given historical and culture values of the grave and temple dedicated to Mr. Đỗ Công Tường and his wife, the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism on July 8 granted the title of National Historical & Cultural Relic to their grave and worshipping temple.
