The second general congress of the Vietnam Assemblies of God Church will be held on June 27-28 in Ho Chi Minh City, according to an approved plan of the church.
The Vietnam Assemblies of God Church was established in 1972 with approximately 7,000 followers. After 1975, the church ceased activities in the country as its dignitaries left Vietnam and remaining followers practiced religious activities at their houses or converted to other Protestant churches.
The Vietnam Assemblies of God Church’s activities were gradually restored from 1988. The church was granted the certificate of religious activity registration by the government religious committee in 2009.
The church currently has about 36,500 followers with 477 congregations located in 44 cities and provinces over the country, of which 105 congregations have registered collective religious activities with local authorities and 16,000 followers belong to ethnic minorities such as H'Mong, Dao, Chau ro, Ma, M'nong, K'Ho, Ede, Rang lai, etc.
