More than 20 international tourists with vaccine passports paid a visit to My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO-recognised world heritage site in Quang Nam province, on November 22 after two years of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Visitors took electric cars to tour around the site, visited local Cham ethnic museums, and enjoyed special art performances showcasing the culture of the Cham people.
According to the Management Board of the My Son Sanctuary, all entrance fees are free as a gift for the first international tourists to visit the site after a long hiatus caused by the negative impact of the pandemic.
The visitors are currently staying at Hoiana Complex Resort, a site which has been designated to provide them with accommodations to ensure safe travel during their stay.
Located approximately 70 km southwest of central Da Nang city and 40 km from Hoi An ancient town, the My Son Sanctuary is comprised of eight groups of 71 monuments built between the seventh and 13th centuries.
The sanctuary was first recognised as a world cultural heritage site by UNESCO in 1999.
