Dong Xam temple festival, the biggest cultural and spiritual event in Thai Binh province’s Kien Xuong district was held on May 14-16 in the district’s Hong Thai commune.

Dong Xam temple worships King Trieu Vu De, Trinh Thi Empress and Nguyen Kim Lau who had transferred his silver carving skills to local people in Dong Xuan village.

The festival of Dong Xam is yearly celebrated, featuring various spiritual activities and folk games deeply reflecting the traditional culture of the Red River delta. The most fascinating program in the festival is a boat-racing contest on river with the participation of youth men in the hamlet and neighboring communes.

Dong Xam is also known as a silver village, one of the most well-known traditional villages in Thai Binh province which has existed since the 17th century, with over 150 manufacturing businesses of silver carving products. While joining the festival, tourists could contemplate and shop a great deal of beautiful silver carving products and spend time to visit the traditional craft village.
