Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang received on October 25 a delegation of Nuns of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) led by Superior Nun Chairwoman of the VBS’s Central Subcommittee for Nun Affairs Thích nữ Nhật Khương.

Joining the event included Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry Vũ Chiến Thắng, Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Hoài Bắc, Vice Chairwoman of the GCRA Trần Thị Minh Nga, and Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, Vice President cum General Secretary of the VBS’s Central Executive Council.

During the reception, Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang stated that the Government always respects people's freedom of belief and religion, and pays due attention and creates favourable conditions for lawful religious practices in general, and those of the VBS in particular, including the VBS’s nuns.

The deputy prime minister spoke highly of practical contributions made by VBS’s nuns in the fields of health care, education, social welfares and charities, the Covid-19 prevention work, etc, with the total value of trillions of VND. The government official expressed hope that the VBS’s nuns would encourage lay Buddhists to well implement state policies and laws on belief & religion, promote religious resources of VBS’s nuns for the country development, and strengthen external people-to-people relations, contributing to the international integration of Buddhism and the Vietnamese people.
