Deputy Prime Minister extends Vesak greetings to VBS Patriarch

On May 28, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc extended his Vesak greetings to Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Most Venerable Thích Phổ Tuệ during his visit to Vien Minh pagoda in Phu Xuyen district on occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday 2015 (B.E. 2559).

Joining the visit included representatives from the Government Office, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and Hanoi city Committee for Religious Affairs.

At the reception, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc praised the contributions of Buddhism to the country’s development over the past years, especially in patriotic movements, social and charitable activities. He also expressed his hope that the Patriarch, monks, nuns and Buddhists would continue to well implement state laws as well as stay closely attached to and accompany with the nation.

Most Venerable Thích Phổ Tuệ thanked the Party, State and the GCRA for their due attention and support extended to Vietnam’s Buddhists on occasion of Vesak festival. He also stated that the VBS together with Buddhist monks, nuns and followers would continue to promote fine traditions of Vietnam Buddhism, contributing to build the country ever more prosperous and beautiful.
